Terra

Links: Theme || Playlist (also--not mine) || Character tag || Gallery

Age: 19 during the events of BBS. who knows how old he is now.

Height: 6'4

Physical Appearance Notes:

Look I don't care what canon tells you, his eyes are brown, not blue.
Also he's not white.

Notes:
Not Very Good with feelings
Basically non existent people skills but, let's be honest, that can be said of Aqua and Ven, too. Growing up and only seeing like three other people at all ever will do that to you.
Kinda blunt and awkward
I DONT' WANT TO SAY HE'S DUMB BUT!!! HE'S!!! He's definitely not the sharpest crayon in the box let's put it that way
Easily fooled (which likely comes down to the lack of people skills, lack of ability to judge character + sense light/darkness levels in anyone + a little due to his lack of extreme smarts)
He also trusts easily, which leads to getting fooled
He's probably one of those people who never fact checks. Ever.
Has had darkness problems since birth, to be honest—well, ever since he started showing a propensity for fighting anyway, so since he joined Eraqus at the very least
His voice CANONICALLY squeaks when he’s upset this is very important
Terra is clairvoyant!! Though I’m not sure if that will ever come up in FtPverse—he gets senses of the future (or sometimes: the past?) upon meeting someone/someplace/something for the first time, if they have a strong enough ~aura~
It doesn’t happen frequently enough for him to really get a master on it, and Eraqus eventually discredited he had the ability, because he went a few years without a reading at all ((never leaving the Land of Departure would do that))

About him and his darkness:
He… HMM! He was told all his life not to allow it quarter in his heart, and I think he rags on himself a lot for don’t doing that just right, for not being perfect enough, or having it in check “properly” and he!! he really does think himself a bad student for not being able to keep a better hold of it, but, like

If ftpverse has proved anything, it’s proved darkness is not 100% bad and that Eraqus is a little extreme in his claims, and I know for certain that had Xehanort not fed Terra’s darkness, he probably would’ve managed it fine!!!! Terra’s fate did not come about “beacause his darkness got out of hand” or “because he got too close to it (like riku)”—his fate came about entirely “because xehanort fucking baited him”

History:
BBS, obviously
Being raised by Eraqus like a son
Growing up around Aqua—like they were siblings
Being an older brother/mentor to Ven
Growing up with the darkness inside of him knowing from both Eraqus and Aqua that it’s…. dangerous…. Fearing it even??
Fighting Eraqus and wearing him down so that Xehanort could deal a killing blow—a moment he considers as killing Eraqus himself
Stealing Aurora’s heart, letting the darkness control him in general, feeling uneasy and struggling with it and vowing to become better but still succumbing to it and to Xehanort in the end………. He so blames himself for that

OH YEAH BEING XEHANORT
BEING XEMNAS
AND SO ON

Fighting Style:
Big POWERFUL DEVASTATING ATTACKS
SLAMMING HIS KEYBLADE INTO THE GROUND
RAISING THE EARTH AROUND HIM
LEAVING CRATORS
D E S T R U C T I O N

Battle Log Entry
Terra's Keyblade is called "Earthshaker" and for good reason. His powerful attacks often cause earthquakes, if not leave craters after hitting. Getting in a fight with him will leave you bruised, at the least, and that's if he's holding back! Like his friends, he can also use the old technique known as Command Styles.
Terra's rather slow, though (he has to be to lug that giant key around), and while his attacks are big, they're easy to evade so long as you stay off the ground. Hold out and don't be reckless, and you might have a shot at taking him down!

Relationships:

Eraqus:

source
Eraqus took him in at a young age and raising him as a son. He came to think of Eraqus not just as a master, but a father, AS PROVED C A N O N

He very much looked up to Eraqus and was very much grateful for Eraqus’ care and mentorship and being there for him he can hardly remember life without Eraqus can’t imagine life without him and he’s
Devastated
At Eraqus’ fate
Devastated that he had a hand in it, even indirectly

He was also devastated that he disappointed Eraqus that he wasn’t good enough in Eraqus’ eyes to be a master and maybe that was Eraqus being safe maybe next year Terra let’s see if we can get a hand on your darkness but also perhaps it was Eraqus being selfish, not wanting Terra to turn out like Xehanort did, but either way, if he’d just explained that to Terra

It upset him greatly that he wasn’t a master in Eraqus’ eyes

ALSO APPAERNTLY IN CANON IN GAME ERAQUS SAYS “PERHAPS THERE’S NO ONE TO BLAME FOR THE DAKRNESS IN YOU BUT MYSELF” SO THERE'S THAT TOO

Aqua

source
Aqua is basically a sister to him. Like with Eraqus, he can’t imagine a life without her, because she was there when Eraqus took him in, and he doesn’t remember a time before then

They were closest siblings and grew up shared rooms bunk beds etc sharing a bed when they were nervous they were really really really close

I teased/hinted at them maybe being a couple for a while but then I realized that...... they grew up as siblings even more than Sora and Kairi did--Aqua and Terra shared a house shared an adopted father and he treated them as if they were his children as if they were brother and sister so they really might as well have been
And so I really cannot see them developing romantic feelings for each other because they grew up as siblings and that just... y'know? They think of each other as siblings and thus the chance of romance happening between them is.... so.... unlikely.

Anyhoo

Terra really looks up to Aqua for being so studious, being basically the perfect student
He envies her in a way?? Sometimes he gets a little jealous though she tells him again and again “Master Eraqus loves you like a son just like he loves me like a daughter” (and of course she thinks he actually loves you more dumbbutt but she never says it to him because that complicates things.)

Ven

source
Ven is like a little brother to him though he doesn’t know Ven for as long as he knew Aqua obviously

Terra was really excited about Ven really excited to see someone that wasn’t Aqua or Eraqus (or Xehanort or Mickey or Yen Sid which is all he saw on a consistent basis—if Eraqus and Xehanort even really kept contact before Ven) and so he was interesting and new
And he felt really bad about accidently hurting Ven. How was he supposed to know that his memory was. Y’know. Messed up

He treats Ven like a little brother and he has no idea how to be a role model because he’s always been the baby he’s always looking up to people he doesn’t know what it’s like to have people look up to him
And Ven attaches to him more than he attaches to Aqua in so many ways

Imagine Terra and Aqua talking and Terra’s just “uhhhh how do I even be a good role model uhhh” and Aqua just laughs “BE YOURSELF DUMBO”

He tries to be really caring and looks out for Ven as much as he can and perhaps tries overly hard at being a role model but it could’ve gone worse

Xehanort

I really don’t think he knew Xehanort much before the events of BBS themselves
He’s just
“The guy who brought Ven”
“Master Eraqus’ friend who is also a Master”
“guy who knows a lot about the darkness??”
“can he help me get a hand on that?? I know that’s why Master Eraqus doesn’t see me as a Master yet I know it is”
“you can help?? Yes good”
“yeah sure I can do that”
“wait”
“WAIT WHAT”
“EXCUSE”
“DID YOU JUST HURT MY FRIENDS”
“DID YOU JUST KILL ERAQUS”
“DID YOU JUST”
“NO I WON’T BE YOUR VESSEL GET YOUR CREEPY OLD HANDS OFF ME”
“I FRICKED UP I FRICKED UP BAD”

And then he’s forced to spend 10 years with Xehanort—3 when he’s Xehanort 7 when he’s Xemnas—and he’s barely conscious he’s just forced to coexist
He hates Xehanort
But he knows Xehanort so well
It’s disgusting
He hates every second of it
But he can’t fight against it
